MaraviPost-(Karonga)-Community surround Karonga Nyungwe constituency have asked Kenneth Ndovie, owner of Link Bus Service to stand as Member of Parliament (MP) in the coming polls saying he is the only person who can change the face of the area.
Speaking on Saturday to journalists, number of the constituents mainly the youths, women and elders said Ndovie who grew up in the area has good heart for the people.
According to them, number of people who have expressed themselves to stand as MP next year just want to enrich themselves out of their expense.
The youths and women said “Ndovie has grown here. He knows the problems we are facing. We are tired of being cheated. We really want him to stand as an MP for the area.”
On their part the elders said “We knows well the behavior of all candidates here. They can not much to Ndovie. He is humble and cares for the poor.”
However, Ndovie while admitting to have been approached by the community said he is still consulting to come up with a decision.
“I am aware of that but with time, I want to consult my family and other people. I want to know why the community want me and if I can win,” he said in a phone interview.
According to him, Nyungwe have enough resources to develop but it just need a leader with vision.
Currently the incumbent MP for the area is Richard Msowoya who is also the Speaker of Parliament.
Candidates for the area include Thumbiko Mhango of Malawi Congress Party, Lucy Mkandawire, Preston Msiska, Khwauli Msiska and daughter to the speaker Luwani Msowoya of UTM.
