Kasungu Hospital Ward gets a Fresh Coat of Airtel Love

Things will never be the same again! The new look of Kasungu District Hospital’s children’s ward, courtesy of refurbishment works by Airtel Malawi, added colour to the donation that the company made to the hospital.

Apart from repainting the children’s ward, Airtel Malawi also fixed doors and other amenities, as well as donated children’s ward utensils like toys, books, plastic buckets, soap and mosquito nets at the hospital.

 

Airtel’s Zonal Business Manager Peter Tengatenga said on Wednesday that he hopes the company’s gesture will directly bring hope and confidence to patients that they will get high quality treatment.

“These are critical elements in the treatment of patients. We decided to repaint the children’s ward and give it a fresh touch to anchor vibrancy in the young ones.

“That is not all, we also fixed the doors and today, we have brought various children’s ward utensils like toys, plastic basins, buckets and mosquito nets,” Tengatenga said.

The company also stressed its commitment to continue supporting the health sector to alleviate challenges faced by the health sector.

“Much as we are aware that this hospital faces a number of challenges, we shall strive to help here and there to make a difference thereby playing a major role in the well-being of our society,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, Airtel has called on everyone to take responsibly over cleanliness and that there is need for members of the community to go extra mile by conducting regular voluntary clean-up campaigns around the hospital’s premises.

According to statement from Airtel, everyone has a role to play to make sure our environment and that of those around us is well taken care of for everybody’s good in the society.

“Airtel is hereby appealing for collective participation from the business community, to the civil society as well as the media. Everyone has a role to play, from our homes to the streets, to our towns, schools, churches, hospitals and even the parks,” reads the statement.

In his remarks, Kasungu District Health Officer Dr Jeromy Nkhambule hailed Airtel for the move.
“Interventions like this one done by Airtel mean a lot to workers in the health sector in our course of duty as we serve to save lives of people. We are motivated and humbled, surely this donation has brought so much more hope and joy in the paediatric ward. What a friend we have in Airtel,” said Dr Nkhambule.

Other dignitaries present during the function were the District Commissioner for Kasungu and The Chief Executive Officer for Kasungu Town Assembly.
