Lawyer Alexius Kamangila calls for national day of prayer and fast against corruption

By Burnett Munthali

In a passionate post on his Facebook page, a lawyer by profession, Alexius Kamangila has called on Malawians to join him in a National Day of Prayer and Fast, scheduled for this Friday. The purpose of the event, according to Kamangila, is to unite in prayer for justice and to support the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.

Kamangila’s post emphasizes the power of collective prayer and action in addressing the deep-rooted injustices facing Malawi. He begins by expressing gratitude for those who have remained true to their word, saying, “Thank you anonymous… People who mean what they say. Walking the Talk.”

He further urges his followers to contribute not just spiritually but also financially, stating, “Join the movement, contribute in Prayer and in monetary terms. Ndalama iliyonseyi ithandiza.” This call highlights the need for both prayer and material support in battling corruption and seeking justice.

As part of the prayer initiative, Kamangila has requested that at 12 noon on Friday, participants engage in a 10-minute silent prayer against injustice, both in Malawi and globally. His call for prayer reflects a desire to put faith at the center of Malawi’s struggle for accountability and reform.

While Kamangila refrained from delving into details about specific individuals involved in controversial cases, such as Chikopa and Madise, he hinted at divine intervention, saying, “I have decided to let God reveal their evil ways.”

In a powerful conclusion to his message, Kamangila called for justice to befall Kennedy Manda, exclaiming, “May the thunder of JUSTICE STRIKE HIM from the head to the toe… AMEN!!!”

Kamangila’s appeal resonates with many Malawians frustrated by the slow pace of anti-corruption efforts and a perceived lack of accountability among some public officials. His movement for a National Day of Prayer and Fast signifies the growing role of religious and spiritual activism in the fight for a fair and just society.

As the day approaches, many are expected to join Kamangila in prayer, hoping that the collective spiritual energy will bring about positive change and the much-needed justice Malawi seeks.
