BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A 43-year-old lawyer, Bob Chinkango, was arrested on June 10, 2025, after a dramatic chase in Blantyre.
Chinkango, who was driving his Mercedes Benz, ignored a roadblock in Bangwe and attempted to divert around the barriers.
Police officers pursued him, and after a warning shot was fired, Chinkango finally stopped near the Enegen Filling Station.
Upon stopping, Chinkango was found to be heavily intoxicated, with a breathalyzer test revealing an alcohol volume of 1.3mg/l.
He was also identified as a lawyer and received treatment for a suspected bullet scratch on his right hand.
Chinkango has been charged with three offenses: conduct, failing to comply with a signal to stop at a roadblock, and drunk driving.
He is currently in police custody pending court proceedings.
