LILONGWE, (MaraviPost): The Election case going in Malawi has revealed that both Lazarus Chakwera and Saulos Chilima filed their petitions against MEC and APM before they had enough evidence. Cross-examination has further revealed that their skimpy evidence was not well vetted by their lawyers before being presented in court.
The Case begun with Saulos Chilima as First petitioner rubbishing his own case. Yesterday then was, the Second petitioner in the Elections case Lazarus Chakwera who surprised the court when he said that he went ahead to take oath of office as members of parliament though the tarry sheets were altered by tippex.
Chakwera said, he did so because he believed that though the tarry sheets were altered by tippex, but they were true results and that it was right for him to take the oath of office as an MP.
Surprisingly Lazarus Chakwera is challenging in the same court the legitimacy of President Peter Mutharika because some tarry sheets were correctly altered by tippex.
