LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In course of improving the well being of people in the capital city, Lilongwe City Council (LCC) has embarked on developing the city with roads funds administration funds amounting to MK9.7 billion.

Touring the projects in Lilongwe on Friday, July 22, 2022 Mayor Richard Banda said the council will receive MK6.12 billion from government and 3 billion from roads funds administration and MK1.5 billion from the last financial balance.
Banda said apart from the roads, the council is also involved in the improvement of water and sanitation in the city of Lilongwe.
He said Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) is expected to construct 1000 households toilets in the areas of Kauma, Pwetekere, Chinsapo ,Mtandire, Mtsiliza and Mgona.
Mayor Banda said the project is expected to cost MK2.5 billion and the work is expected to commence in November with community mobilisation activities.
He said council is laying sewer lines and rehabilitating Kauma waste water treatment plant to be done by 30 September this year.
The sanitation project will be implemented with four contractors namely Fidelis, Trinkon and irrigator while the construction project is supervised by PJK and P consulting engineers and Gravam engineers.
