The Lilongwe City Council has expressed its gratitude to Reunion Insurance Company and The Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx) for their support towards environmental conservation in the city.
The council’s Chief Environmental Officer, Godfrey Kalenga, praised the two companies for their efforts in helping the council achieve its vision of making the city green and conserving the environment.
The appreciation came during a tree planting initiative along Lingadzi River, organized by Reunion Insurance Company.
Kalenga commended the company and GLFx for their commitment to environmental conservation, saying their efforts were crucial in promoting a green and sustainable city.
“Reunion Insurance Company and GLFx have shown great commitment to environmental conservation in our city,” Kalenga said, adding that,”Their efforts are crucial in helping us achieve our vision of making Lilongwe a green and sustainable city. We appreciate their support and look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”
Madalitso Kamberengende, Regional Controller for Reunion Insurance Company, highlighted that the tree planting initiative was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and efforts to give back to the community.
He emphasized the importance of addressing climate change impacts and promoting environmental conservation.
“Planting trees is one way we can contribute to environmental conservation and mitigate the impacts of climate change,” Kamberengende said, adding that, “As a responsible corporate citizen, Reunion Insurance Company is committed to supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of our communities and the environment.”
Steve Makungwa of GLFx echoed Kamberengende’s sentiments, promising to continue working with Lilongwe City Council in conserving the environment and taking care of planted trees.
“We are committed to supporting environmental conservation efforts in Lilongwe and beyond,” Makungwa said, adding that,”We will continue to work with the city council to ensure that our efforts have a lasting impact on the environment and the community.”
Reunion Insurance Company has been supporting environmental conservation efforts in Malawi since 2022, donating tree seedlings to the Lilongwe City Council to promote tree planting and greening initiatives.
This year, the company donated 200 mibawa tree seedlings to the council to plant along Lingadzi River.
The tree planting initiative is part of the company’s broader efforts to promote environmental conservation and address climate change impacts.
By partnering with the Lilongwe City Council and GLFx, Reunion Insurance Company is helping to create a greener and more sustainable city for the benefit of all Malawians.
