Lilongwe city rates payment now on Airtel Money

Kamoto

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s leading mobile money service Airtel Money on Tuesday, November 11 announced a partnership with the Lilongwe City Council empowering the city’s residents to pay their city rates via Airtel Money.

“We are proud to support Lilongwe City Council’s city rate collection efforts which will encourage more residents to honour their payments anywhere, anytime, and on an instant, secure and convenient digital payment platform such as Airtel Money” explained Airtel Malawi Managing Director, Charles Kamoto.

According to Kamoto, this new payment option not only brings convenience to Lilongwe city residents but also allows the City Council to broaden their reach by tapping into Airtel Money’s large customer base.

The Lilongwe City Council has, over recent years, been expanding its rate collection efforts through setting up various convenient and accessible payment platforms.

The council’s Chief Executive Officer John Chome expressed optimism with the partnership saying it will help encourage more residents to settle their city rates. “Partnering with Airtel Money now means that residents will now pay their rates using their Airtel Money from wherever they are and at any time,”

Chome said Lilongwe City Council now joins Airtel Money’s bill payment partner list in addition to ESCOM, Blantyre Water Board, Northern Region Waterboard, Southern Region Waterboard, and Central Region Waterboard.
