LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Manhunt has been launched in Lilongwe Lingadzi Police Station for a man who allegedly brutally murdered his biological son and threw his severed head into Chimbalame River.

Lingadzi Police Station Public Relations Officer (PRO) Salomy Zgambo said the incident happened on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Mtandire Township.

The boy has been identified as three-year-old Calvin Issah of Chalera Village, Traditional Authority Tambala in Dedza.

“We have gathered that the suspect suffered from a mental disorder in August last year and was taken to Dedza District Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

“But he escaped from the hospital to an unknown destination until March 11, 2022 when he suddenly appeared at his wife’s house in Mtandire where he found the family sleeping,” says Zgambo.

The suspect escaped with the child while family members trying in vain to locate them.

They found the head of the child stuck in the middle of the river while the trunk was recovered hours later a few metres from a bridge.

However, the toddler’s legs and arms were chopped off and police are pushing to recover the cut off body parts and arrest the suspect.

More to come….
