The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has constructed an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory at Chadabwa Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Lilongwe.
The laboratory is part of the Connect A School (CAS) project, funded by the Universal Service Fund (USF), a digital inclusion arm of MACRA.
Headteacher Chikumbutso Phiri hailed MACRA for the initiative, saying the laboratory will significantly enhance learning and teaching at the school. “The laboratory, once completed, will help students in learning and searching topics on the internet,” Phiri said.
Teachers will also benefit from the laboratory, as it will provide them with access to more information online to supplement their existing knowledge.
Board Member for MACRA, Malla Kawale, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction, stating that the laboratory will assist learners and surrounding communities in accessing information.
This project is part of MACRA’s efforts to promote digital inclusion and improve the quality of education in Malawi.
The construction of the ICT laboratory at Chadabwa CDSS is one of 75 similar projects launched by MACRA across the country.
The initiative aims to provide Community Day Secondary Schools with ICT infrastructure, enabling students to access digital resources and improve their learning outcomes.
