LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Magistrate court in Lilongwe on Monday, August 3, 2020 denied bail to Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) chief executive officer Collins Magalasi and co-accused persons over security matters on.
The court justified the decision saying the suspects might interfere with evidence.
This comes after the State pleaded with the court to deny the bail.
This means the trio will spend more days in prison remand.
Magalasi, alongside businesswoman Dorothy Shonga and MERA Communications Specialist Patrick Maulidi are accused of fraud of MK107 million.
The criminal charges relate to procurement contract awarded to Shonga’s Vink Enterprises.
The court however is yet to set a date for the hearing of the case.
