Malawi court slapped a man five years in jail for house breaking, theft

The Kasungu First Grade Magistrate court on Friday August 14, 2015 slapped a 34 man into 52 months (four years) and 12 months ( a year) Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) for house breaking and theft respectively.

Edwin Kaunda, Kasungu Police Station Publicist confirmed the development to The Maravi Post on Saturday, August 15, 2015 the conviction of Wilson Billy upon His Lordship Damiano Banda found him guilty.

 

Kaunda said Billy- the convict, on May 11, 2015 broke into the house of Sibongile Liyati and stole various households items valued at K350, 000.00.

‘Billy was arrested on the May 20, 2015 such that since May 26 he has been appearing before Kasungu First Grade Magistrate court where on several occasions he hasn’t  pleaded guilty for house breaking and theft charges.

“Although Billy pleaded not guilty to the charges, the state prosecutor sergeant Francis Malenga paraded three witnesses who testified against the convict such that after full trial His worship Damiano Banda found him guilty and sentenced him to 52 months (four years) and 12 months ( a year) Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) for house breaking and theft respectively”, explained Kaunda.
