BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi has been placed in Group A of the 2025 COSAFA Under-17 Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in Windhoek, Namibia, from May 8 to 17.
This marks a historic moment for Namibia as it hosts the regional tournament for the first time.
Group A pits Malawi against hosts Namibia and Comoros.
Meanwhile, Group B consists of Zambia, Mozambique, and Mauritius, and Group C comprises Lesotho, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
As the defending champions, Zambia will be looking to retain their title, which they won in the previous edition.
In an interview Maravi Post,Head Coach Linda Kasenda expressed confidence in her team’s ability to advance beyond the group stages.
“It is a fair draw looking at the teams we have been drawn against.
“Last year, we failed to progress from the group stage, but this time around we target to finish top of our group so that we progress to the semi-finals,” said Kasenda.
Malawi made their debut in the 2022 edition of the championship, finishing third on home soil in Lilongwe.
