LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has released the official list of approved candidates for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for 16 September 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, a total of 20 individuals submitted nomination papers for the presidency.
Following a rigorous vetting process in accordance with Malawi’s electoral laws and regulations, 17 of these candidates have successfully met all the requirements for valid nomination.
The MEC confirmed that the remaining three nominations were disqualified for failing to meet the legally prescribed criteria.
