Malawi boxing fraternity will have rare treat when a local female boxer Anisha Basheer takes on American boxer Jessica Zuzik in non-title international bout.
The bout will be fought at Lilongwe Community Centre on the undercard of Robert Kachiza and Zimbabwean opponent Tinashe Mwadziwa.
New Dawn Boxing Promotions Managing Director Mike Chiliza said the American has been itching to fight Anisha after watching her fight in October last year.
“Zuzuk went into the ring to do shadow boxing through pad work after watching Anisha’s fight against Ruth Chisale. Fans were mesmerized and she promised for a fight and the day will come to pass on Sunday,” Chiliza said.
The promoter said the American had been training hard in readiness for the fought.
“I recently visited in the gym and she is really serious about this bout. She has since promised to bring more supporters from American Community in Malawi,” he said.
This will be the first time for New Dawn Promotions to organise an international non-title bout since the establishment of the stable.
Robert Kachiza should expect a tough time against the Zimbabwean who has a pedigree in the game having won Africa Youth Games boxing gold in Lesotho, bronze at 2010 Zone VI Games besides being China 2008 Olympic Games boxer.
