Malawi national football team’s friendly game against Egypt on Monday at Jorg El Arab Stadium will be played under floodlights.
The Malawi national football team delegation left Chileka Airport on Friday 5th June 2015 at 15:00 hours boarding an Ethiopian Airlines for Cairo – Egypt where the Flames with a 25-man delegation led by Football, Association of Malawi (FAM) executive member Jabber Alide.
FAM General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said this would not affect the players as they have player under floodlights before.
He said most West and North African countries prefer playing under floodlights because of high temperatures during the day owed to the desert weather condition.
“The game will be played at night and we are not worried with that. What is important is for Malawi to play the game,” Nyirenda said.
The game is in preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zimbabwe on 13 June at Kamuzu Stadium.
Meanwhile coach Young Chimodzi has included Mighty Be Forward duo of defender Francis Mlimbika and striker Muhammed Sulumba in the squad after suffering injuries during the COSAFA tournament.
