Presidential Advisor on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations Mavuto Bamusi has said Government’s door is open for constructive alternative viewpoints that will help improve the welfare of the people in the country.
Bamusi made the remarks at Chiradzulu District during an interface meeting NGOs and CSOs that are implementing various development interventions in the district.
This follows an editorial The Maravi Post published last week encouraging the DPP Government to utilize the skills of all Malawians including those in Opposition and in the Diaspora to come up with solutions to solve the overwhelming Malawi problems.
He said government come up with various development programmes such as community colleges whose objective is to uplift the living standards of people hence the need for NGOs and CSOs to offer alternative views on how such programmes can be sustainable.
“Time for tension and mudslinging between organization and government is over. The president (Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika” is emphasizing on contact and dialogue as a means of ensuring that NGOs and government work together towards uplifting the living standards of the people,” said Bamusi.
On this note Bamusi said his office will broaden interaction and engagement with organizations to ensure that issues that need immediate presidential attention from NGOs are addressed,” said Bamusi adding that this interaction will ensure that the president and civil society originations are closer to each other.
Bamusi urged all NGOS and CSOs to have a strategic partnership with government to ensure that development in the country forges ahead.
Bamusi therefore appealed to Malawian to desist from politicizing development projects arguing Malawi has moved at the snail’s pace in this realm because of the tendency.
“NGOs and CSOs should build strategic partnership to ensure that development projects benefit everyone in the country. Politicization of projects has made the citizens to receive projects in piece meal,” observed Bamusi.
In Her remarks, Executive Director for Tadzuka Women Forum Christ Magombo hailed government for the initiative saying meetings of this nature will help government get views from NGOs operating in rural areas.
