Malawi Govt launches fellowship to cultivate next generation of public leaders

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The Emerging Public Leaders, in collaboration with the Malawi government on Friday launched the Public Service Fellowship Programme to instill a strong work ethic and forward-thinking mindset in newly recruited civil servants.

The program aims to equip young leaders with the skills necessary to deliver exceptional public services.

Speaking at the launch in Lilongwe, Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Colleen Zamba emphasized the importance of effective leadership in the public sector.

She noted that the fellowship program seeks to shift the perception that working in government is an easy task, promoting instead a culture of hard work and dedication.

On his part,Chairperson of Emerging Public Leaders Arthur Chibwana, stressed the need for civil servants to maintain the highest standards of performance, demonstrating strong work ethics, professionalism, and sacrifice.

The inaugural cohort of the fellowship program comprises 33 newly graduated civil servants who will undergo training to become better leaders.

The program marks a significant step towards developing a new generation of public servants who can drive positive change and deliver high-quality services to the people of Malawi.
