Malawi Group Encourages Youth to Participate In Mitigating Impacts of Climate Change

National Youth Network on climate change (NYNCC) has expressed optimism that the participation of youths towards climate change programs can help mitigate impacts of climate change in the country.

 

Board Chair for the organisation, Nessily Mushan made the revelation during a press briefing on Malawi Youth Position towards United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Conference of Parties 21 in France at Simama hotel on Friday in Lilongwe.

 

 

Mushani encouraged Malawians and all youths to be pioneers in mitigating impacts of climate change.

 

“Noting that Malawi has in the recent past experienced a number of adverse climate hazards such as dry spells, drought, floods and increased outbreaks of environment related diseases such as Malaria and Cholera youths have to be proactive in sensitizing the masses on how to stay away from facing such disasters in the near future” She said.

 

She added by saying that due to this lives of the citizenry have been affected and has led to loss of property.

 

Adding on this, NYNCC country coordinator Giva Maseko said the current scenario has hugely affected youths and children who are vulnerable to climate change related disasters and loss of damages associated with climate change impacts.

 

“We need to intensify corroboration with the country’s youths to bail them out from challenges they encounter as a result of climate change
