BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a disappointment to many based on today’s decision to allow its leader Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) in picking Jane Ansah as his runningmate for September 16 elections.
Today’s DPP action is a big step backward for Malawi and beyond.
DPP carried hopes for the nation ahead of polls but now the party has lost it all.
Many Malawians have worked hard to leave behind the bad leadership and unfair practices of the past, but the DPP seems to be ignoring that progress.
Bringing back Jane Ansah, who was at the center of the messy and disputed 2019 elections, is a slap in the face to all Malawians who fought for fair elections. Her return shows that some leaders think they can get away with anything — even after causing pain and mistrust and mistrust.
It’s also sad to see former President Peter Mutharika using a walkway meant for people with disabilities during a public event. That kind of behavior shows a lack of care for the rights of others, especially the vulnerable.
To make matters worse, the DPP is trying to pretend that some of their members are from Central Malawi when they are not. This trick is just to fool people into thinking the party is united across the country — but it only brings more division.
Malawians deserve better. We must say no to old leaders who failed us before.
It’s time for honest, fair, and inclusive leadership that respects everyone.
The future belongs to leaders who listen to the people — not those who play games to stay in power.
