Malawi issues travel advisory amid middle east tensions

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has issued a travel advisory urging all Malawian nationals to avoid traveling to or through the Middle East due to escalating security risks stemming from hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The advisory notes that the volatile situation may affect neighboring countries and international transit routes.

The ministry warns of potential military escalation, airspace restrictions, airport closures, and disruptions to commercial flights, which pose significant safety concerns for travelers in the region.

Malawian citizens already in the Middle East are advised to exercise extreme caution and follow specific guidelines: exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant at all times; closely follow official guidance from host governments and local authorities; monitor developments through credible news sources; review personal security plans and ensure travel documents are valid; maintain regular contact with family members; and contact the nearest Malawian diplomatic mission or the Ministry’s Protocol Department for guidance if immediate concerns arise.

The government will issue further notice before allowing travel to resume, aiming to protect Malawian citizens from the broader regional implications of the conflict.
