BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Joshua Nkhono is facing public anger following verdict by setting free man suspected to have assaulted a 14-year-old boy of Gochi Village in the district in October 2021.

The public backlash comes after the judge Nkhono acquitted suspect Dzimadzi following the state failure to bring the essential evidence of the purported offence.

Dzimadzi set free

According to the Senior Resident Magistrate, the victim did not sustain any grievous harm or unlawful wounding hence acquittal of the case.

“It is clear that the victim did not sustain any grievous harm or unlawful wounding. Consequently, according to the required standards.

“The State has failed to prove an essential element of the offense, being the actual wounding or grievous harm on the victim, ” the ruling reads in part.

But judge verdict on the matter has worried the general public considering the viral evidence that went out.

After the video went viral, former homeland minister Richard Chimwendo Banda ordered the arrest of Dzimadzi for physical assault.

It was said communicated to the public that Dzimadzi was suspecting the child to be the one stealing his Irish potatoes in his garden.

“What evidence did this judge want to proof that this man Dzimadzi severely injured the young boy? This judge is inhuman. He has set a bad record to perpetrator of domestic violence,” worried Willard Katundu.

Chipped in Vera Macheso from Ntcheu, “This is pure sign of our rotten judicial system coupled with witchcraft. I wish this case could be be appealed”.
