BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Lawyers from various departments under the Ministry of Justice have begun a sit-in,protesting the government’s failure to respond to their petition regarding their working conditions which they claim have been neglected for a long time .
The sit-in, which started on June 9, 2025, was initially scheduled for May 19,2025 but was postponed after the Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo intervened and promised to address the lawyers’ concerns.
According to a letter addressed to the Ministery of Justice, dated June 6, the lawyers were expecting feedback by June 4, but none was provided.
In the letter, lawyers expressed frustration over the lack of response.
“There has been no address to the issues raised in the petition despite several engagements.
“The Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo has not given the promised feedback, leaving the lawyers in the dark,” reads the letter in part.
The Ministry of Justice is yet to take an action against the lawyers’ sit-in.
