Malawi leader Mutharika inaugurates BB, Wanderers Stadia construction

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—President Arthur Peter Mutharika has, this afternoon, inaugurated construction work for Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Stadia, expected to be completed in two years time.

In the run up to 2019 tripartite elections, Mutharika promised to construct two state-of-the-art   stadia for Wanderers and Bullets after the realizing that the two giants were homeless despite entertaining the football lovers in the country for decades.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu has hailed President Arthur Peter Mutharika for the two projects, saying the two teams are a hub of football in the country.

“The two stadiums will turn BB and Wanderers financial fortunes,” Nyamilandu said.

Bullets Stadium will be constructed at Zingwangwa Ground whereas Wanderers Stadium will be at Soche in Blantyre.

Last month, the ministry identified contractors for the project. China Civil Engineering Construction Company emerged successful bidders for the Bullets stadium whereas Wanderers stadium will be constructed by Anhui Foreign Economic Construction (Group) Company.

Anhui constructed Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe which was officially opened in 2017 as Flames Under -23 drew 2-2 with Chinese side Guangzhou R& F.
