Malawi On The Pathway Towards Ethnicity And Civil Strife Under Malawi Congress Party

We have learnt with shock and disappointment to see and hear of the violent attacks and destruction of vehicles in Lilongwe.

The democratic atmosphere enshrined in our constitution is slowly dying.

Instead of democracy maturing, 30 years later multipartyism and democracy are indeed dying.

As a new political party born in a multiparty era we write to condemn and abhor the barbaric actions of a political party that happens to be in the government.

The ruling party MCP has planted seeds of disunity in the main opposition party with the archaic intention of perpetuating violence and blame the factionalism in the official opposition party.

We call upon President Lazarus Chakwera to call his party to order or risk this country enter into turmoil.

The fact that the previous government of the DPP was brutal and violent does not give you liberty to do likewise. “Two wrongs does not make one right.”

It is high time Malawi practiced mature politics with clear and honest translation.

Politics is not Kung Fu or martial arts; it is a practice of the minds not brutal attacks.

National Police in Malawi urgently needs “Radical Reform” to take nonpartisan charge so as to ease the tension which is a time bomb for ETHNICITY and CIVIL STRIFE.

We in the Muvi Wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party take note that the government that fails its people resort to violence and brutality to instill fear.

This is what the ruling party MCP is doing, MCP is copying exactly what DPP in the past used to do when citizens could not approve its performance in the government.

Malawi Congress Party and its entire leadership are cautioned to stop the violence henceforth before the country plunges into tragedy of mass killings and indiscriminate attacks.

This country as from 2012 is an injured nation; succeeding government are supposed to come with a new project of healing not provocation and anarchy.

We need peace in this country, we need democracy and the Rule of law in this country, we also need an impartial police service.

Malawi Congress Party must be held accountable and responsible for the violent attacks on innocent citizens belonging to another political party that planned their routine under the confines of the law.

Malawians across the country must not condone or submit their allegiance in violence.

We need democracy to remain in Malawi and any signs of dictatorship must be condemned and abandoned in strongest terms.
