Police in Ntcheu recently confiscated assorted government medical drugs which were being sold at pengapenga market. The drugs which include amoxicillin, Panado, Bactrim and malaria drugs amongst others, amount to over half a million kwacha.
The five people have been arrested in connection to this offence and have since been charged with being found in Possession of Government Medical Drugs contrary to section 119 of Dangerous Drug Act.
The police name the five as Damison Sato, Wesley Majawa, Davie Kadwala, Mikeasi Fanuel and Keneth Chaona, and will appear in court soon.
In a related development police in Ntcheu have intercepted a Minibus registration number MH6201 with 84 bags of cannabis sativa at an adhoc roadblock which was mounted at Bawi stores recently.
The driver of the mini bus stopped near the roadblock and tried to turn back, but he failed and after seeing that he could not manage, he disembarked from the mini bus and ran away.
The minibus was found carrying 84 bags of cannabis sativa and was taken to the station. Meanwhile investigations on the matter are still in progress.
