Malawi police intensifies arrests on Covid-19 fight

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The inspector General of police Dr George Kainja has vowed that the law enforcers will ensure that people are adhering to stipulated Covid-19 preventive measures.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 updates by the presidential task force Kainja warned public transport operators that they will not be spared.

Kainja argued that the citizenry has been sensitized enough on the need to enforce the preventive measures and those found defiling will be arrested.

The IG emphasised on sitting capacity on public transports adding those caught defilingl will be arrested

So far 15 minbus operators in Lilongwe have been arrested and fined 75 thousand Kwacha for not complying with the law

Dr Kainja assured citizenry that previous instances of returnees freeing isolation centres will not happen again saying that prison warders have been authorized to equally give security in isolation.

As of 20th January the country had recorded 992 new cases and 76 recoveries and 17 new deaths
