Malawi President Peter Mutharika who is also the leader of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is receiving pressure from the party’s members in the north who are demanding him to fire their regional
governor Kenneth Sanga and Director of Youth Kelvin Chirambo Maravipost has establish.
According to report confided to our reporter, the two are accused of being voracious and killing the party in the region.
The party supporters behind this include district and constituency governors from across the region among other. The group has also threatened to leave their almighty party especially if Mutharika fails to bow down to their call.
Nkhata-bay district governor Francis Matenga said “Sanga is failing to boost the party in this region. What is happening is that he is not organizing meetings frequently, a development which is weakening the party.”
“Imagine, the region committee only conducted the district meetings during the 2014 election campaign period. This makes opposition parties to grow in the region,” he added.
He said “as in our district (Nkhata-Bay) the party survive due to activities conducted by Vua Kaunda as well as Grace Obama Chiumia.”
Chitipa district deputy director of youth Philemon Mtambo complained about the poor communication between the regional and districts committees saying “it is putting thorns in the party.”
Meanwhile, Mzimba district governor Chidamusha Mkandawire cautioned Mutharika to expect winning few seats in the 2019 general elections especially if Sanga and Chilambo maintain their positions.
