Malawi President in an unexpected move reshuffles Cabinet with two Ministers losing their Portfolios

In a much unexpected move that has taken many by surprise, reports are emerging from the state house indicating that Malawi President Peter Mutharika has reshuffled his Cabinet which has seen some Ministers losing their portfolios and the prestige that goes with the job…

 

 

A statement from Government’s Chief Secretary, George Mkondiwa says that Mutharika has made the changes, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Section 94 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi.

.

The changes, according to Mkondiwa, are with effect immediately.

 

The latest changes have seen Tarcizio Gowelo, who served as, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Paul Chibingu losing their portfolios completely.

 

 

Minister of Health Jean Kalilani has been shifted to the Ministry of Home affairs and Internal Security and been replaced by Dr Peter Kumpalume.

 

Atupele Muluzi, who was Minister of Home Affairs has now been pushed to Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

 

DPP loyalist Information Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa has also been relocated to the Ministry of local government and rural development, he has been replaced by Jappie Mhango.

 

While Chaponda  still retains his portfolio as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
