LILONGWE, January 29, 2015(MaraviPost): The State President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika has arrived safely in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he joined fellow African heads of state and hundreds of delegates from across the world for the 24th African Union (AU) Summit.
For Peter Mutharika it is the first time attending such a summit as President of Malawi.
The theme of the Summit is: “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.
Deliberations will focus on progress made in empowering African women, outcomes of the Dakar Financing Summit, and decisions made at the Malabo Summit in June 2014, amongst other Africa’s most pressing issues.
During the summit, The Malawi President will meet leaders of different countries and organisations to update them on the flood disaster that has hit the nation as well as thanking them for the assistance rendered to Malawi so far in response to the disaster.
