LILONGWE (Maravi Post)—Malawi President Peter Muthalika who is also the Chancellor of the
public universities in the country has finally accepted to meet the public university students’ union leaders probably in a final attempt to try to persuade authorities to consider their case, Maravi Post has learnt.

The granting of audience by the President follows the request of the students through a letter they presented to Mutharika recently.

According to a state house press release made available to Maravipost, the meeting will be held at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe at 1:00 pm on Thursday 4 August, 2016.

Meanwhile, the student union has trashed the university council officials for organizing stakeholder meeting on Tuesday without inviting them.

Among those invited at the university council’s meeting today included politicians, church leaders, civil societies, secondary students and private universities officials.

Recently, the University Council officials made it clear that it will not revise downward the hiked fees as demanded by the students.
