LILONGWE, Malawi March 18th, 2015: Malawi Minister Of Information, Tourism & Culture has released a statement where the State President Peter Mutharika would like to remind the people of Malawi, all stakeholders and our cooperating partners that the policy of his administration to separate between functions of State and partisan politics has not changed.
This is a direct response to statements made by Ecklen Kudontoni, DPP Secretary General believes that by winning the elections this is time for cadres of the ruling party to ‘eat’. By ‘eating’ he means abusing state resources.
The Presidential statement made available to The Maravi Post continued to say, accordingly, Government wishes to disassociate itself from any statement, made or implied, allegedly on its behalf or on behalf of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP) that removes or relaxes what must be a clearly marked separation between State affairs and partisan functions of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The Information ministry stressed that, such statements do not represent the policy stand of His Excellency the President and his administration nor do they reflect the views and beliefs of the DPP.
The Statement called on all public workers to ignore any statement that aims at intimidating them or dissuading them performing their duties according to their expertise and professionalism.
His Excellency the President insists that only professionalism and ethics must be the creed for public workers, not partisan exigencies, political patronage or hegemony.
In the same vein officials of Government or those of the DPP are advised to refrain from making comments that mischaracterise the views of His Excellency the President and the beliefs of the DPP with regard to how Malawi must move forward.
