Malawi Ranks 61st in the Rule of Law Index

Malawi ranked 61st out of 102 countries in this year’s Rule of Law Index of the World Justice Project.

Malawi ranked 5th out 18 countries in our region.

Absence of Corruption – 80/102 and 10/18 in Region
Open Government – 65/102 and 6/18 in Region
Fundamental Rights – 49/102 and 4/18 in Region
Order and Security – 83/102 and 11/18 in Region
Regulatory Enforcement – 73/102 and 9/18 in Region
Civil Justice – 50/102 and 6/18 in Region
Criminal Justice – 48/102 and 4/18 in Region

The top 10 countries in this year’s index include: Denmark (0.87), Norway (0.87), Sweden (0.85), Finland (0.85), Netherlands (0.83), New Zealand (0.83), Austria (0.82), Germany (0.81), Singapore (0.81), and Australia (0.80).

Leader in Africa is Botswana (0.64), followed by Ghana (0.60), South africa (0.58), Senegal (0.57), Tunisia (0.56), Morocco (0.52) and then Malawi (0.50)

The Rule of Law Index, now on its fifth year, is an annual rule of law and corruption index that combines both expert consultation and data collection
