Ecklen Kudontoni is everything that is wrong with the DPP government.
The DPP Secretary General believes that by winning the elections this is time for cadres of the ruling party to ‘eat’. By ‘eating’ he means abusing state resources.
Kudontoni believes that all government departments must open up for DPP cadres to abuse resources. He believes there is a thin and blurred line between the ruling party and government.
But Kudontoni must be told that the ruling party is not akin to government. In fact government comprises all parties that make up Parliament and indeed all the 15 million of us regardless of whichever party we belong to.
The fact that I belong to the DPP, for example, must not make me superior to the chap that belongs to Mafunde.
People with Ecklen Kudontoni’s thinking are the ones that make ruling parties stink. They go about hounding parastal CEOs into releasing vehicles to ferry party cadres to party functions.
A reformist party that the current DPP wants to become should be the last to entertain such nonsense.
People like Ecklen Kudontoni should not be allowed to be CEOs of a reformist party like the current DPP for they are everything that was wrong with the old DPP.
If the Mutharika government is serious with its public service reform agenda, it should start by reforming how it does its politics. It should start by reforming characters of Ecklen Kudontoni’s thinking.
