BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Immigration and Citizenship Services Department has resumed production of passports in Blantyre and Lilongwe after the service was halted due to shortage production materials and other technical hitches.
Confirming the resumption of the service on Wednesday, National Public Relations Officer for the department, Joseph Chauwa said at the moment supply of necessary materials has come back to normal.
“Today we have a new supply of materials. So, as an office what we have decided is to reduce printing so that at least we can mainly focus on printing for people on emergency and very important trips; meaning that normal applications for passports will not be handled. This is at least to make sure we cater for the most critical need whilst waiting for another supply,” said Chauwa.
Chauwa further said the department is doing every necessary thing to expedite production of passports at Mangochi and Mzuzu Offices.
