Malawi Robbers ransack Surestream Academy offices, steal computers and a TV

Robbers invaded Surestream Academy offices and ransacked the offices in Chilomoni Township, Blantyre and got away with a safe containing unspecified amount of cash, two computers and two TV plasma screens.

Blantyre Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Divala and the academy’s mamanager Patricio Kulemeka confirmed the incident.

“The robbers found their way in by drilling the wall fence of the stadium and tied the two guards they found at the premises before breaking into the offices,” Divala said.

She said other stolen items were a first aid kit and a bunch of keys.

“We have launched investigations and we are appealing to those that might have information related to the incident to report to the nearest police station,” Divala said.

Kulemeka said the incident was reported to Chilomoni Police, which is just a stone throw away from Surestream Academy.

Surestream Academy established three years ago, is probably one of the highly sponsored teams in the TNM Super League.

They made to the top league after qualifying from Division One Malawi’s third tier league and then to Premiership, the second tier before making their way to the top league.

Sponsored by a UK petroleum company, Surestream, the team has been assured a US$1 million (K400 million) package for this season.
