Malawi sees improvement in PSLC exams results

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has released the 2025 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) results, showing an overall pass rate of 87.50%.

A total of 247,958 candidates sat for the examination, with 120,122 being male and 127,836 female.

Out of these, 216,972 candidates passed, with 108,843 male candidates and 108,129 female candidates passing.

The male candidates recorded a pass rate of 90.61%, while female candidates achieved a pass rate of 84.56%.

Both male and female pass rates saw an increase, with males up by 1.07% and females up by 1.66% from the previous year.

This represents an overall increase in the pass rate by 1.34% in 2025 compared to 2024.

The Ministry of Education attributes the improvement in pass rates to enhanced teaching strategies, increased learning resources, and targeted interventions in underperforming districts.

Despite the progress, a gender gap in performance persists, with males outperforming females.

The Ministry remains committed to strengthening female education programs and supporting teachers nationwide.

Candidates can access their results on the MANEB website (link unavailable) by entering their examination number and date of birth.

The results are also expected to be available at Education Division Offices, District Education Offices, and all Public and Grant-Aided Secondary Schools.

This year’s PSLCE results provide valuable insights into Malawi’s education sector, and the Ministry of Education is optimistic that the improved performance will translate into stronger results at the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) level.
