Police in Blantyre yesterday arrested 18-year-old Sadik Mdala for being found in possession of a firearm without a licence. Mdala was arrested at a snap Roadblock police mounted in one of the road networks in Blantyre.
According to Police Public Relations officer for the Southern Region Superintendent Nicholas Gondwa, Mdala was driving a Toyota Corolla and upon seeing the Roadblock he tried to reverse the vehicle and the police officers became suspicious until they apprehended him.
When searched he was found with a Pistol but failed to explain how he obtained it. Mdala who is currently held at Chilomoni Police Station hails from Mpina Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
This is happening in an environment where armed robberies are happening at an alarming rate and no relief in site.
