This year’s tournament, running under the theme “Unite, Build and Rise,” will feature both men’s and women’s categories a historic move that reflects the sport’s growth and inclusivity on the continent.

At least nine countries are expected to compete promising thrilling action and intense rivalries.

In a virtual address, Netball Africa acting president Rebekka Goagoses who also serves as the vice president for development praised Malawi’s commitment to the sport.

She highlighted that this will be the second time Malawi has hosted the event, the last being in 2012 when it left a lasting impression on participants and fans alike.

“We are delighted to return to Malawi, a country with a rich netball culture and passionate supporters,” Goagoses said.

Malawi National Council of Sports CEO Henry Kamata assured Netball Africa and participating teams that Malawi is fully prepared.

“Netball Africa has not made a mistake by choosing Malawi. The government was ready to host this event even yesterday. We promise warm hearted hospitality and a safe, memorable experience for all visitors,” Kamata said.

Sports Council marketing and infrastructure director Limbani Matola has been appointed chairperson of the local organizing committee, tasked with ensuring smooth operations and flawless execution of the event.

Hosting the African Netball Cup also presents Malawi’s Queens and the emerging men’s national team with a home advantage as they look to showcase their talent and compete for top honors.
