Malawi to host LDCs strategy meeting on climate change

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi, as the chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Group, is set to host a crucial strategy meeting from April 15 to 16,2025 at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.

The meeting aims to address the pressing needs of vulnerable nations affected by climate change.

In an interview with Maravi Post,chairperson of the LDCs Group, Evans Njewa said it is high time for the group to discuss accessing the pledged $300 billion in annual climate finance by 2035 and finalize the roadmap to mobilize $1.3 trillion in climate finance.

He emphasized that delegates will also focus on creating more ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Notably, the LDCs Group comprises 44 nations, spanning Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean, representing over one billion people highly vulnerable to environmental and economic shocks.
