Malawian of Pakistan origin in police cell for defiling a six year old girl

May 13, 2015; Police in Mzuzu are keeping in custody a 33 year old Malawian of Pakistan origin for allegedly defiling a six year old girl in the township of Mapale within the city.

Speaking to Malawi News Agency, Mzuzu Deputy Police Publicist, Sergeant Patrick Saulos, confirmed the development, saying that the suspect, Karmarah Suleman, defiled the girl on Monday this week.

 

“The girl was playing with her friends and when the suspect came on a vehicle, he took the girl [and went with her] to a building which is under construction at Mapale Area where he defiled her,” explained the police publicist.

“Before getting into the vehicle with the girl, the suspect enticed her with a MK100 note,” added Sergeant Saulos.

Suleman was working as a shop keeper at Patel Shop which is located opposite the exit gate of Mzuzu Bus Depot.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson has advised the general public to desist from malpractices of this sort, saying the victim is affected in many ways, including being psychologically affected.

When he appears before the court of law, Karmarah Suleman will answer the charge of defilement which is contrary to section 138 of the Penal Code and attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment with hard labor
