Kajoloweka presenting the petition to ACB deputy director Elias Bodole

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawian youths under the banner, Youth decide campaign on Friday, November 20, 2020 lodged a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau over allegations of corruption and abuse of funds at the Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MEDF) now NEEF.

In a statement signed by the youth decide team leader Charles Kajoloweka said they are deeply concerned with serious allegations of systematic plunder of public funds which where meant for the youth and woman loans at the state owned microfinance institution.

Kajoloweka who presented the petition to ACB deputy director Elias Bodole said in avoidance of doubt they have seen, examined and attach Central Internal Audit Unit ( CIAU) report submitted on 6th October 2020, for the secretary to treasury which exposes organised fraud, abuse of funds by a criminal syndicate comprising NEEF officials and their crooked cronies in private sector.

The team leader said with the findings of the audit they are convinced that NEEF is nothing but a crime scene which needs serious attention.

However the statement has demanded that the Bureau should swiftly act on the audit findings and bring the perpetrators to justice and recover the stolen public funds.

Among others the Bureau should monitor the current loan administration at NEEF and where necessary halt all dubious transactions.

“As youth leaders we recognise that officials corruption and associated organised crime frustrate Malawi’s development agenda and as youth leaders we will therefore not sit back and watch our future being stolen in our face,” reads the statement.

Upon receiving the petition, Bodole express sadness on increase of public funds abuse

He therefore assured the youths that his office will act accordingly within the ultimatum of 14 days the office has been given to address the matter.
