LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The High court in Lilongwe on Thursday, December 24, 2020 granted an injunction to a group of musicians restraining government from enforcing new Covid-19 restrictions.

The musicians are Lulu, Skeffa Chimoto, Kelly Kay,Ndasalapati Msanjama, Dan Lufani and The Great Angels Choir

Innocent Kubwalo, lawyer representing the group told Maravi Post that his clients feel the new restrictions are not legally binding because government violeted several procedures which must be followed when coming up with such measures.

He said the court will hear both parties on 31 December, 2020.

Musicians expressed worry over the government’s decision to limit public gatherings to less than 100 people with an aim of curbing the spread of Covid-19.

On Tuesday, the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 among others directed that all public gatherings should not exceed 100 people.
