LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Travelers and traders alike should anticipate improved efficiency when transacting at Dedza Border Post as construction of the new one- stop-border facility is just a month away from completion.

Touring the works on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Minister of Transport Jacob Hara said he was impressed with the construction of the MK9.6 billion-facility, which is said to now be at 89 per cent completion.
The Minister said the border facility is one vital element in revitalising the country’s socio-economic sector.
“Yes, it is key to economic growth. I mean once done, which should be this July, the facility will improve the processing of imports and exports at the border; creating employment and boosting bussiness in the process,” Hara said.
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Dedza Border Post Station Manager Moses Masina has since concurred with the Minister that the new facility will help improve efficiency.
Masina also disclosed that the centre currently attends to over 70 trucks per day; raking in about MK2.6 billion a month which he says can improve once the one-stop facility becomes operational.
In a related development, construction of a simlar facility at Mwanza Border Post is said to be within schedule.
The World Bank-funded facility, to a tune of MK3 billion, is also slated to be completed by July 3, 2022.
