Smiles were written all over the faces of rejuvenated families in the Shire Valley districts of Chikwawa and Nsanje as over the last weekend, the Mia family once again reached out to them with the donation of food packs in time of dire need.
The charitable initiative which kick-started in Chikwawa-Nkombezi Constituency saw legislator for the area, Abida Sidik Mia in company of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President Sidik Mia distributing food packs containing maize and soya flour, sugar and salt to thousands of jubilant families.
In the second tide of the distribution, the MCP Veep Sidik Mia distributed the food packs in Bangula, Nsanje District where more sad faces brightened up in full excitement.
Originally, according to Mia, the food packs were meant for distribution among Moslems to use for breaking fast during this Holy Month of Ramadan but then, looking at the impact of prevalent hunger in the valley, they thought it neccessary to distribute to all without partiality.
“Hunger does not chose whether one is a Moslem or not, that’s why we are equally distributing the food to all our people,” said Mia and continued: “We will therefore in the coming days distribute more in various parts in the Southern and Eastern Regions”.
Earlier, in an interview, apart from the food distribution, MP for Chikwawa Nkombezi Abida Mia shared her development plans for her constituency in the key areas of water through provision of more boreholes and roads that are currently in a bad shape.

During the distribution, the Mia family urged the people to live safely by adhering to Covid-19 preventive measures in order to avoid the spread of the deadly pandemic.
The renowned top-notch politicians also urged the people to vote for Tonse Alliance torchbearer who is also MCP President Dr. Lazarus MacCarthy Chakwera in the forthcoming July 2, 2020 Presidential Election.
They said the Chakwera-Chilima combination is the best solution for the much needed reboot of the rotten system in the current government.
Well known for charitable works, the Mia family has always embarked on food distribution to thousands of hungry people in Shire Valley especially in years of bad harvest that bred marauding hunger among the people.
