LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Paralympic Committee with support from the Commonwealth Games Association has sent Para Powerlifting athlete, Chimwemwe Makalani and coach Paul Nkhoma for a three-week training camping in the rainbow country, South Africa.

The camp is part of preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games slated to take place in Australia and New Zealand.

Malawi Paralympic Committee’s General Secretary (GS) Memory Baluwa said the committee is overwhelmed with the gesture as it has opened a new chapter for international events for Para Powerlifting and they believe the sport will make the nation proud.

She added that the committee expects athletes to be in good shape as they prepare to showcase their talents in the highest event.

“The campaign is a stepping stone to Para athletes in Powerlifting and we look forward to more trainings of the same before the games in 2026.

“We thank the Malawi Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association for their continued support at Para Sport in Malawi”, Baluwa said.

The camping will take place at Stelle Bosh University, South Africa.
