There are reports that the Malawi Interfaith AIDS Association (MIAA) has suspended its executive director Robert Ngaiyaye over alleged mismanagement of funds.
When Kulinji (online paper) sought Ngaiyaye’s comment over the development, he referred the publication to the organisation’s board chairperson.
“I think you should talk to the board chairperson,” was all he uttered.

MIAA’s board chair Bishop Gilford Matonga confirmed that Ngaiyaye has indeed been suspended pending investigations, but he was quick to say that the board is yet to meet on the matter.
“We’re still investigating and cannot come up with specifics, once all things have been verified, we’ll notify the public,” he explained.
He pointed out that in the interim, the board and technical staff is overseeing MIAA’s operations until investigations are done.

An insider disclosed to Kulinji that Ngaiyaye also sold official vehicles of the grouping, whose proceeds were not accounted for.
Established in 2003, MIAA is an interfaith service agency, comprising different faith members and is composed of Malawi Council of Churches, Evangelical Association of Malawi, Christian Health Association of Malawi, Muslim Association of Malawi and Association of Christian Educators and play a pivotal role in the coordination and facilitation of HIV and AIDS programming in the country.
