BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A learner from Mulanje based St.Andrews Private Schools Florence Mlenga emerged the winner of universal postal union latter writing competition 49th edition.
The competition was organized by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) in conjunction with Universal Postal Union (UPU).
UPU is a specialized agency of the United Nations that coordinates postal policies among members states.
To scope the 1st position Mlenja beat about 200 other contestants from other schools across the country.
Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony in Blantyre on Friday, October 2, 2020 MACRA Director General Henry Shamu said that through such kind of competitions learner’s are more encouraged to do batter in their studies.
Shamu added that on a broader scene MACRA is a regulator of communications, of which latter are part of it hence the coming in of MACRA in the competition.
For emerging the overall winner Florence Mlenga received a laptop and MK500,000 cash.
Tinashe Mphalale of Tione private school walks away with a laptop and MK300,000 cash while Evance Kazunguza of Target private school got a laptop and MK200,000 cash.
All top three schools in the competition also received computers whereby Principal secretary in the Ministry of Education Chikondano Mussa presided over the event..
