Man commits suicide after killing daughter, wife for infidelity

A 45 year-old man has hanged himself in the central district of Dowa after killing his daughter and later the wife for suspecting her of infidelity.

Dowa Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Kaponda has confirmed the incident to the Maravi Post on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 saying his wife was found dead lying under the tree’s field garden at which the man hanged while the body of the child is still missing.

According to Kaponda, child body is suspected being eaten by wild animals as the wife body party-the leg was found eaten by unknown wild animals.

The Dowa Police Publicist said the deceased, Ishmael Chambali Damusi was on Friday, June 19, 2015 gone to the garden with a wife and daughter but never came back which surprised family members and neigbours who went researching for their missing from the village on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

“A deceased’s brother told the police that Damusi had warned his wife of infidelity that next time she might kill her as a punishment which finally has been materialized. This is very unfortunate for one resorting to eliminate his own family for issues which could have been sorted out amicably”, says Kaponda.

Damusi hailed from Kachikunda village, Traditional Authority, (TA) Chiwere in Dowa district while the wife, Gilina Maliki Damusi aged 33 and the daughter of a year-old, Tamandani Damusi originated from Nyangu village, TA Chiwere in the same district
