NTCHISI (Maravi Post)—Twenty-seven-year-old Eliya Phillip of Kaphatika Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chilooko in Ntchisi is in police custody for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
According to Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, the incident occurred between November 2015 and January 26 2016 at Mnjowe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi.
According to M’bumpha, Police investigations revealed that the victim who is a standard 8 pupil at Sopani Primary School was in love with the suspect who whisked her away from her parents and kept defiling her as they lived as a family from November 2015 to 26th January 2016 at Mtunthama in Kasungu.
The parents of the victim had to look for her whereabouts and found the victim on January 26 and reported the matter to police.
The victim was examined at Malomo Health Centre and was reported to have sustained a cut confirming that there was a forced penetration on her private
part.
The suspect who has been charged with defilement will appear in court soon. However, the suspect say he took the victim as a mature girl.
